If you’re in the UK, make sure you register by the 7th June if you haven’t already! Then make sure you know where you’ll be on the 23rd June. That’s when Britain votes to stay in or leave the European Union, so if you’re away, you’ll need to apply for a postal vote as soon as you can. We can’t leave it to the old, who are much more likely to vote leave, to decide your future. It’s incredibly important that you make the effort, even if you don’t consider yourself political! Like it or not the result will affect you, and the result looks incredibly close. You could swing it.

A few words of encouragement…

I’m not sure how many (if any) people will read this, but I think it’s an important thought to keep with you:

IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO START KICKING ASS IN SCHOOL. 

In my tiny high school I was “the smart one”, the valedictorian, the one who was supposed to get a full ride and cure cancer blah, blah, blah. But in the fall semester of freshman year, I totally broke down. Full on collapse. That plus being surrounded by people who were lightyears ahead of me academically led to my GPA and self worth plummeting to uncharted territories and I pretty much accepted the fact that my life was over. But it’s not.

Right now, my GPA is still in shambles, but I’m taking summer courses, getting the treatment/help I need, and finding motivation/inspiration from communities like studyblr. The most important thing to remember is that you have to be determined as hell to get where YOU DESERVE TO GO. And yes, YOU DO DESERVE IT. You wouldn’t be reading this if you didn’t care enough or aren’t trying hard enough. Don’t let setbacks and slumps make you give up or alter your dreams. Take those challenges head on and KICK. THEIR. ASSES. 

Also important: Don’t worry about other people’s progress. We all have that douche bag in each class sitting in front of us or two seats down, constantly bragging about how little they have to study or how easy the material is. Screw them. OWN YOUR WORK ETHIC. Don’t you ever let anyone make you feel the tiniest bit inferior because you want something bad enough to make sure that NOT achieving isn’t an option. This doesn’t mean being perfect and getting perfect marks, it means being honest with yourself about how much effort you’re actually putting in. Someone might be smiling on the outside about how naturally gifted they are, but they could easily be putting in as much stress and work as you. And even if they’re not, your professors and employers will favor someone who puts their all into what they want to get good results over someone who shrugs and half-asses it most of the time to get the same results. TALENT IS NOTHING WITHOUT HARD WORK. 

So, you might not be there now, but you will get closer…. and closer….. and closer. And if you tasted failure, then success will be 10000x sweeter. Just PLEASE remember that now isn’t the end, so don’t close the book just yet.
